“Wisdom Tooth Removal Cost in Dubai – Complete Guide by Dr. Suraj Pawar | Pricing, Insurance & When CBCT Is Needed”

Wisdom tooth pain is one of the most common reasons patients visit me at Dental Oasis, JLT Dubai. Many people are unsure about the cost, insurance coverage, and whether they really need advanced scans like CBCT.
This blog will help you understand everything clearly and scientifically.

⭐ 1. What Determines the Cost of Wisdom Tooth Removal in Dubai?

The cost of removing a wisdom tooth in Dubai is not a fixed number. It depends on the complexity of the tooth and the surgical work required.
This is consistent with Dubai‑wide pricing trends, where clinics categorize cases based on eruption status, root shape, bone involvement, and anesthesia needs .

✔ Key Factors That Affect the Cost
- Eruption status – Is the tooth fully out or stuck under the gum?
- Direction of the tooth – Straight, tilted, horizontal, or inverted.
- Depth of impaction – How deep it is inside the bone.
- Root anatomy – Curved, long, or hooked roots increase complexity.
- Bone removal required – More bone removal = more surgical time.
- Proximity to the nerve – Especially for lower wisdom teeth.
- Type of anesthesia – Local vs. sedation (sedation increases cost).
- Clinic location & surgeon expertise – JLT/Marina areas typically have higher pricing ranges in Dubai .

⭐ 2. My Pricing: Transparent, Fair & Based on Complexity

At my clinic, I keep pricing simple and affordable:

✔ Wisdom Tooth Removal with Dr. Suraj Pawar
AED 1,000 to AED 2,000
(depending on complexity)

This includes:
- Consultation
- OPG (Panoramic X‑ray) assessment
- Surgical planning
- Removal under local anesthesia

This range is below the typical Dubai market, where impacted wisdom teeth can cost AED 1,500 – 3,000 in many clinics .

My goal is to provide specialist‑level care at a fair price, without unnecessary add‑ons.

⭐ 3. Do You Need an OPG or CBCT for Wisdom Tooth Removal?

✔ OPG (Panoramic X‑ray) – Usually Enough
For most wisdom tooth cases, an OPG gives me all the information I need:
- Tooth direction
- Depth
- Bone level
- Root shape
- Space available
- Relation to sinus (upper teeth)

This is why I do not routinely ask for CBCT for wisdom teeth.

✔ When CBCT May Be Needed
CBCT is only required when:
- The lower wisdom tooth is very close to the main nerve
- The OPG shows unclear root‑nerve relationship
- There is suspicion of nerve involvement

This aligns with standard surgical guidelines where CBCT is used to assess nerve proximity in complex lower impactions .

✔ Important Truth
Even if CBCT shows the nerve is close, the scan itself does not prevent nerve injury.
It only helps us understand the anatomy better.

⭐ 4. What If the Nerve Is Too Close? – The Safer Option: CORONECTOMY

When the lower wisdom tooth roots are touching or extremely close to the nerve, removing the entire tooth may risk:
- Numbness
- Tingling
- Temporary or permanent nerve injury

To avoid this, I perform a coronectomy — a scientifically proven, safer alternative.

✔ What Is a Coronectomy?
- Only the crown of the tooth is removed
- The roots are left behind
- This avoids disturbing the nerve
- Pain and healing are usually easier

This is the preferred method worldwide when nerve proximity is high.

⭐ 5. Does Insurance Cover Wisdom Tooth Removal in Dubai?

Most insurance companies in the UAE do cover wisdom tooth removal if:
- It is medically necessary
- There is pain, infection, swelling, or impaction
- A specialist recommends removal

Insurance coverage varies, but many policies classify wisdom tooth removal as:
- Oral surgery
- Medically indicated procedure

Coverage depends on your plan, but many patients successfully claim reimbursement when proper documentation is provided.

⭐ 6. Why My Wisdom Tooth Removal Is Affordable

✔ 1. Specialist Expertise
With 16 years of surgical experience, I complete procedures efficiently and safely.

✔ 2. No Unnecessary Scans
I rely on OPG, not routine CBCT, unless absolutely required.

✔ 3. Transparent Pricing
No hidden charges. No inflated surgical fees.

✔ 4. Patient‑Centric Approach
I recommend extraction only when truly needed, not routinely.

⭐ 7. When Should You Remove a Wisdom Tooth?

You should consider removal if you have:
- Pain
- Swelling
- Food trapping
- Gum infection
- Bad breath
- Jaw stiffness
- Repeated discomfort
- Cysts or decay around the tooth

If the pain is mild, we can monitor.
If the pain is severe or infection is present, removal is recommended.

⭐ Final Message

Wisdom tooth removal in Dubai does not have to be confusing or expensive.
With the right assessment — usually just an OPG — you can understand your case clearly and choose the safest option.
